thyssenkrupp is accelerating the start of low-CO2 steel production and making an important contribution to achieving national and European climate targets.
The two companies have agreed that H2 Green Steel will supply steel with low carbon footprint from 2026 onwards to be used it in Adient’s metal products.
The project is focused on the implementation of Direct Reduced Iron and Reducing Electrical Furnace technology at Tata Steel’s facilities in IJmuiden.
H2 Green Steel has pre-sold about 60 percent of its initial volumes showcasing the demand for decarbonised steel.
POSCO plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through its HyREX technology, a unique eco-friendly hydrogen reduction steelmaking model.
With the technological shift in steel manufacturing being the need of the hour, in 2016, Swedish manufacturer SSAB joined forces with mining company LKAB and energy provider Vattenfall, thus HYBRIT was born.
The products will be offered to customers who aim to decarbonise their production chains, e.g. the steel industry, oil refining, and e-fuels.
H2 Green Steel received the permissibility for its five million tonne steel plant in northern Sweden on July 1.
A new Enel Green Power project is taking off in Sicily that will see green hydrogen used to power heavy industry.
When complete in 2026, the project will produce 1.2 million tonnes of green ammonia per year for the purposes of decarbonising industries.
