Steel producers are investing heavily in producing green steel using electricity from fossil-free sources and green hydrogen instead of carbon intensive coal. JSW Steel has set ambitious sustainability targets including reducing its specific CO2 emissions by 42% by FY2030 from 2005.
BSH has already been sourcing initial quantities of green steel from Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH since 2021 with a reduction in the carbon footprint of more than 66 per cent.
As part of the agreement, Metal One is providing development funding to Clean Energy Systems, and the parties will co-locate resources to efficiently target the global steel market.

Both Klöckner & Co and Siemens have set themselves ambitious sustainability targets. To this end, the two companies intend to expand their cooperation. One of the aims of the partnership is to open up access to larger quantities of green steel for Siemens.
Outokumpu is starting cooperation with Klöckner & Co, one of the largest producer-independent distributors of steel and metal products, by delivering the first coil made of emission-minimised stainless steel.
