Alleima's Kanthal division and Danieli will supply a pilot-scale electric process gas heater to be installed at Emsteel's direct reduced iron (DRI) plant in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to electrify a part of their existing heating system.

Kanthal, a division within Alleima Group, has won the E-prize from EON, Aktuell Hållbarhet and Dagens Industri in the energy optimization category.

Alleima´s division Kanthal signed a strategic partnership with Danieli to jointly develop and scale up Kanthal’s demonstrated electric process gas direct-heating solution, Prothal® DH, to full industrial scale.

To meet the increased need, Kanthal will expand its production capacity in Sakura, Japan, an investment of approximately SEK 100 million. The aim is to capture mid- and long-term market growth in Asia.
