Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) is proud to announce that their low CO2 steel product “NSCarbolex™ Neutral” plate will be supplied to STEELARIS. STEELARIS aims to achieve carbon neutrality in 2024-2025.
OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies, Erdemir and İsdemir, have unveiled their roadmap for production with net zero emissions. Accelerating their decarbonisation efforts, Erdemir and İsdemir are targeting net zero emissions by 2050.
In October, Outokumpu will take a significant step forward in reaching the target by replacing fossil fuels with renewable solutions provided by Neste, the world’s leading producer of renewable diesel. The company’s Kemi mine will become carbon neutral by 2025.

The EU Commission has granted state aid approval for German federal and state government funding of the “tkH2Steel” decarbonisation project in a total amount of around two billion euros.
H2 Green Steel has signed a 7-year binding agreement with ZF, one of the biggest suppliers to the automotive industry globally. Deliveries of near zero emissions steel are set to begin in 2026. This agreement will see H2 Green Steel also work closely with ZF’s sub-suppliers, with the goal of driving the steel industry transformation as an integrated approach in the entire supply chain.
Landmark agreement will see H2 Green Steel provide sustainable material for building Scania trucks. By doing this, Scania is continuing its progress towards minimizing the climate impact from its supply chain.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Vestre had become the first furniture company anywhere in the world to use SSAB’s fossil-free steel. Vestre strives to be at the forefront of the green shift, and has always been quick to test new technologies and solutions in order to reduce their overall climate impact.
Outokumpu’s Kemi is the only mine in the EU to produce chrome, an essential raw material in stainless steel production.
